With appetites kicking into gear ahead of Christmas, food markets and festivals are sprouting up around Surrey to furnish our festive tables with the best seasonal, artisan produce around…

Garsons Christmas Food Market

9am - 5pm Saturday 18 November & 11am - 4pm on Sunday 19 November 2017/ Garsons, West End, Esher

Garsons of Esher are getting the festive season off to a tasty start this year with a Christmas Food Market taking place on the weekend of 18th and 19th November. Shoppers can soak up the festive atmosphere in a marquee adjacent to the award-winning Garsons Farm Shop while sampling some of the best seasonal food and drink from Surrey and beyond.

The Bevan's butchers counter will be taking orders for locally-reared free-range turkey and other seasonal meats, and offering expert advice on preparing and cooking the festive feast. Leopard Dairy will be on hand to help shoppers choose the perfect cheeseboard selection, while Loseley Bakery will be sampling some of their delicious seasonal bakes, including Christmas cakes, mince pies and traditional stollen. You’ll also find traditional hand-raised Toppings Pies, gourmet Kent Crisps and juicy Mediterranean olives. And to wash it all down with, there will be local beers from Hepworth Brewery, wines and ciders from Lyme Bay Winery and artisan soft drinks from The Original Drinks Co.

Meet Santa’s Reindeer at Garsons

And if you head to Garsons over Christmas from the 25th November, you’ll be able to meet real reindeer in Garson’s own specially built enclosure! The annual reindeer visit to Garsons has not only become a popular event on the Christmas calendar, but has also helped the family-run business raise thousands of pounds for a different local charity each year. While there is no charge to see the reindeer, visitors are encouraged to give their spare change in collection buckets at the enclosure. Donations in 2016 totalled nearly £3,000 and went to help Carer Support Elmbridge continue their vital work with unpaid carers in the borough.
This year's nominated charity is Fabian's Childhood Cancer Trust, set up by local mum Lydia Bate who lost her son Fabian to leukaemia in 2014 when he was just 12 years old.
