Already marked as a super fruit due to their high content of phytonutrients (naturally derived plant compounds) and antioxidant properties, cranberries are now being increasingly used in natural skin products...
If you suffer from skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, eczema or oily skin, a cranberry facemask can help to flush out toxins, leaving it looking young and fresh. After some investigation and a number of trial runs we came up with and recommend the following. A gentle, cooling detox mask you can whip up in seconds.
Half a cup of frozen cranberries
1 egg white
1 teaspoon organic runny honey
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 heaped tablespoons of oats
What it does
Cranberries: Antioxidant to flush out toxins
Egg White: Draws out oils and tightens skin
Honey: Hydrates and soothes skin
Lemon Juice: Evens skin tone
Oats: Absorb excess oils from the skin and makes the mixture paste like for easy application.
Crush or blend the oats into powder, add everything else and blend, blend, blend. It’s that simple.
If the mixture is too runny, add more oats. Too thick, blend for longer to release more juice or add more cranberries.
Apply generously to your face and enjoy ten cooling minutes of cranberry magic whilst you flick through our Guide 2 Surrey
print magazine (had to throw that in there).
Wash off with warm water and voila! Your skin should feel cool, clean and clear. This mask is also good if your skin tends to appear blotchy from time to time.
Enjoy with a glass of chilled cranberry juice for an internal antioxidant boost.
And just so you don’t do anything silly – Please do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
