Voted by runners as
s Best Road Run
, the award-winning Mercer Surrey Half
Marathon celebrates its 5th year on 11th March 2018. 6000 runners, including 550
children, will once again descend on Woking Leisure Centre to take part in this notoriously fast, well-organised and atmospheric race...
This local running event has become one of the country's best running races; described as “a friendly and local event, promising a high-quality experience for every runner.” Gaining some of the highest recommendation rates and ratings in the industry, Mercer Surrey Half Marathon is definitely not one you want to miss!
Though the race is known its local and friendly atmosphere, the event attracts runners from all over the UK to its start line, which has recently included charity runner Tony The Fridge - who is known to repeatedly make the 300mile trip down from Newcastle for the event; and who set a world-record at it last year for “the fastest half marathon whilst carrying a fridge.”
This scenic, single-lap race is Surrey’s largest half marathon. Starting at Woking Leisure Centre, runners follow a professionally marked and measured route along fully-closed and well-surfaced roads out from central Woking into the glorious countryside. This picturesque race is made even more enjoyable by live music, numerous water stations and communities of local supporters. Not to mention the large, high-quality medal and headwrap awarded to all finishers! Free indoor bag storage, chip timing and plenty of clean changing and shower facilities are just some of the key organizational features which have made the Mercer Surrey Half Marathon so popular.
The fast, flat course boasts one of the fastest half marathon course records (01:02 hrs); encouraging a great mix of novices and race snakes to complete the distance in their best possible time. The Mercer Surrey Half Marathon is an exceptional choice for charity runners too - as the event raises an estimated £0.4 million for charity every year.
Whether you’re a spectator, volunteer or runner, everyone at the event is promised a great experience. With live video streaming on a 13sqm LED Screen, dance performances, charity stalls, massage, live music and more, there is plenty to do for the whole family in the event village. Even after the race is over, everyone has the opportunity to take advantage of fantastic “race day deals” offered by local businesses and restaurants.
